Who We Are

The Leaf Rapids National Exhibition Centre is a museum facility that is open year round to provide a northern population with quality exposure to Canada’s human, natural, scientific and artistic heritage. Our unique portfolio of programs:

1. serves to enhance audience learning, appreciation and development;

2. offers an opportunity to emerging artists to introduce and display their works; and,

3. provides northern audiences with nationally acclaimed exhibitions and performances.

Exhibitions

Ten to twelve art, science and history exhibitions from local and national sources are displayed each year. At least two of these exhibitions feature the works of local and regional artists.

Education

The aim of the exhibitions education program is to enhance the understanding and enjoyment of the exhibits on display. Programs are offered to students from nursery to grade twelve who are attending the Leaf Rapids Education Centre. Each program includes a tour component and a hands-on art project.

Performances

The Exhibition Centre sponsors two or three live performances each year. These include theatre, dance and musical presentations.

Summer Arts, Crafts and Recreation Program

A free comprehensive arts and crafts and recreation program is held each year from the beginning of July to mid-August. These activities target children between the ages of five and twelve.

Youth Arts Council

Membership on the Youth Arts Council is open to young people between the ages of twelve and twenty. The group consists of eight members. Their goal is to present the visual and performing arts through a youth perspective.

Gift Shop

The Exhibition Centre Gift Shop sells arts and crafts by local and regional artisans, miscellaneous gift items, beads and craft and art supplies.
