Beaches
Turnbull Beach (4 kilometres south of town) and Newfie
Beach (30 kilometres north of town) offer safe sandy beaches and crystal
clear water for great family fun and entertainment. The kids can
frolic and swim in the shallows or play on the playground equipment, while
mom and dad soak up the rays in their sun chairs. Recreational
boaters and water skiers fly across the deep waters of the lake in the
distance. As the long days fade into short nights, the beach area
comes aglow with outdoor barbeques and late evening
picnics.

Golfing
The only golf course in Northwestern Manitoba,
Leaf Rapids’ golf course is surrounded by some of the most breathtaking
scenery imaginable. The golf course, like the town itself, was designed to
preserve the integrity of the natural environment. Don't worry about
green fees because you can play as long and as often as you like
absolutely free. We even have golf clubs that you can borrow free of
charge.

Hiking
Walking paths and bush trails meander through
the forest, cross eskers and sinkholes thousands of years old. Paths
leading to the rock gardens, bay six pond and the rapids that the town is
names after are favourite hikes for residents and visitors alike.
Lighted trails lead into the bush from the residential bays to the Town
Centre. No home is any more than 10 minutes walking distance from
the Town Centre.
Wild blueberries blossom everywhere near the end of
August each year. Moss berries or cranberries grow in abundance and
are best if picked just after the first frost. Whole families waste
no time gathering buckets full of the succulent fruit. Watch for
edible mushrooms, wild mint for tea and other local delights.
Hunting
Acres and acres of untamed wilderness and
wildlife surround Leaf Rapids. Enjoy nature and the unspoiled
terrain while hunting black bear and fall bull moose. For
non-residents, hunts for spring and fall black bear and
fall bull moose are available only through licensed outfitters.
Inquire about Timber wolf hunts. There are also various game bird
seasons that are open to residents and non-residents.
For licensing requirements and more information refer to
Manitoba Conservation's Hunting Guide
available online or call 1-800-214-6497 for additional information.

and artistic heritage. Our unique portfolio of programs also offers an

musical presentations. A free comprehensive arts and crafts and

mid-August. These activities target children between the ages of five and
twelve. The
Exhibition Centre Gift Shop sells arts and crafts by local and regional
artisans, miscellaneous gift items, beads and craft and art supplies.
